Mapping Care

Making a Self Care Plan

IMG_0107.JPG

If asked what makes you feel good or bring you joy? I reckon a lot of people could name at least 1 thing - even if it seems small.

However, I also know that when I’m personally moving through big life shifts or transitions it can be easy for self-care and self-love to go out the window. With this in mind, I created a map to remind myself of the (little and big) things that support me or care for me in different areas of my life - sort of like a helping hand for my future self.

The map makes space for exploring:

  • What nourishes you?

  • Who brings joy? Who grounds you? Who can listen without judgement?

  • What affirmations might you need to hear?

  • What sensory experiences calm you or please you?

  • What places settle you or feel soothing?

  • What movement makes you feel good or alive?

  • What gentle reminders might you have for your future self?

  • What does rest mean for you? What feels restful for you?

The points you note down can be tools, activities, people, community, services or anything really - we can get what we need from different spaces. For example, if there isn’t someone in your close circle who can listen in the way you need, seek out a helpline or a local support group that may be able to help - noting this down now will be helpful for your future self in moments of stress or overwhelm, when you may not have the energy to seek this out. My hope is this map can act as a gentle reminder of all the things and people that can support you with whatever experience you’re navigating.
